On April 16–17, SHINE 2Europe was at the EAI GOODTECHS 2026, the 12th International Conference on Smart Objects and Technologies for Social Good in Dubrovnik, Croatia.
SHINE’s projects director Natália Machado led the workshop “Sustaining Social Innovation in Smart Public Security: From Evidence to Long-Term Impact” exploring how social innovation in public security can move beyond pilot phases and achieve lasting impact.
The discussion was grounded in the ongoing work of the CO-SECUR project, particularly the co-creation of a Societal Development Plan to support sustainable, scalable, and effective Social Innovation in Security (SIS) solutions.
It was a great opportunity to exchange insights on key factors for sustainability, including stakeholder collaboration, alignment with institutional frameworks, and the role of evidence in decision-making.
As a result, a paper titled “Designing Sustainable Social Innovation in Public Security: Insights from the CO-SECUR” has also been published in the conference proceedings. Organized by European Alliance for Innovation, this international conference is about emerging technologies encompassing the development, integration, and application of advanced innovations to address complex challenges across diverse domains.
