SHINE 2Europe, a partner in the SAVE | Senior Activation in a Virtual Environment project, funded by the European Commission’s Erasmus+ program, presented the project and the good practices collected on November 27 at the Faculdade de Economia da Universidade Porto.
This multiplier presentation gave its 26 participants an idea of SHINE’s innovative approaches to adult education, digital technologies and culture. The SAVE platform was highlighted and the general opinion was unanimous: the platform is very useful for older adults in their daily lives and in combating isolation.
SAVE is designed to inspire older adults to explore their passions, such as crafts, gardening, painting or theater, through digital tools, further enriching their lives through civic participation. The project aims to overcome the aversion or fear of modern technologies by empowering them to develop digital skills, explore online resources and efficiently use ICT communication tools.
In the session, the discussions went beyond the presentation of SAVE and also touched on its good practices. Participants also found the concept of “social/cultural prescription” very interesting, highlighted in the good practice of the “Culture on Prescription” project, of which SHINE is also a partner. They praised this innovative approach, recognizing its potential to enrich people’s lives by promoting participatory ageing.
At the end of the event, Natália Machado, Project Director at SHINE and facilitator of the presentation, expressed her satisfaction: “It was extremely gratifying to see this work of recent years recognized and praised by the participants, who were truly interested in social innovation practices.”
