On 7–8 October 2025, SHINE took part in the second Transnational Project Meeting (TPM) of the AGE-MEDU project – Advancing Geriatric Education for Nurses and Techs at High University, hosted by the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Porto, in city of Porto, Portugal. In parallel with the TPM, SHINE attended the Future Health Conference at the ICBAS/FFUP Complex. The AGE-MEDU project was presented in the round table “The future of health and care education.”
The two-day meeting gathered project partners from Croatia, Greece, Portugal and the Netherlands to review progress and plan the next stages of the initiative. Representing SHINE, Luís Dias and Inês Saavedra contributed to the discussions and planning sessions.
The discussions focused on finalising the pending activities related to the creation of recommendations for improving nursing studies, with a special emphasis on geriatrics and gerontology. Partners also advanced the development of educational materials for these subjects, defining the division of work by learning units and ensuring close coordination with the design of the VR-based practice software, which will allow students to apply knowledge in realistic training scenarios.
In addition, partners planned the upcoming workshop led by CTI, which aims to test and refine the proposed learning scenarios with participants before their full integration into the digital training platform.
The meeting fostered productive dialogue on how best to integrate digital tools and innovative learning approaches into geriatric and gerontology education, ensuring alignment between pedagogical content and technological development.
