The European Commission published a report on Country Participation in the European Innovation Ecosystems (EIE) Programme [2021–2025] in which Portugal is listed among the ten countries with more applications (384) and SHINE 2Europe ranks 3rd top beneficiary.
SHINE coordinated the SIRENE project and participated as partner in INTEGER, being one out of seven Centro Region organisations with approved projects in this programme.
The New European Innovation Agenda foresees as one of its flagships the aim of “Accelerating and strengthening innovation in European Innovation Ecosystems across the EU and addressing the innovation divide”. SIRENE and INTEGER worked towards that goal: SIRENE worked to improve wellbeing and housing conditions by empowering social and private entrepreneurs, while INTEGER focused on developing more robust, sustainable, and inclusive ecosystems for healthy living and wellbeing. EIE programme is part of Horizon Europe (2021–2027) and has a dedicated budget of around €500 million over the programme period. It aims to strengthen and interconnect innovation ecosystems across Europe so that ideas can move more effectively from research to market. By fostering collaboration among companies, universities, research organisations, public authorities and other innovation actors, it supports the scaling of innovative enterprises and enhances the overall performance, inclusiveness and resilience of Europe’s innovation landscape.
The report features of a series of country factsheets and provides a structured overview of national involvement in the programme, highlighting participation patterns and engagement across relevant calls. The factsheets offer a comparative perspective on how countries contribute to and benefit from the development of more connected and effective innovation ecosystems across Europe.
