Between December and February, SHINE 2Europe contributed to the implementation of the Casa Viva – Uma Casa com Vista para o Futuro project, promoted by Domus Social and funded by PRR. Within this initiative, SHINE designed and delivered a capacity-building programme for adults living in social housing in the Campanhã area of Porto.
The programme followed a practical and participatory approach, tailored to the needs and realities of adult learners. It was structured around three key themes: Environmental Literacy, Sustainable Food, and Employability, all aligned with promoting active citizenship, sustainability, and well-being.
Although initially planned to reach a larger number of participants, the programme successfully engaged 71 individuals. Despite these challenges, participant feedback was consistently very positive. The sessions were widely appreciated for their practical relevance, clarity, and usefulness in everyday life. Environmental Literacy emerged as the most valued topic, followed by Sustainable Food and Employability, all of which strongly resonated with participants’ interests and needs.
Overall, the initiative demonstrated the importance of flexible, community-based learning approaches and highlighted the value of tailoring content and delivery formats to target groups.
