CAREWAY was presented at the CA21152 – Implementation Network Europe for Cancer Survivorship Care (INE-CSC) International Conference, “The Next Chapter – Empowering Individuals, Families, and Society for Cancer Survivorship & Supportive Care” (25-26 May 2026), held at the University of Coimbra, Portugal.
On behalf of the CAREWAY consortium, Carina Dantas (SHINE 2Europe) presented the abstract “CAREWAY: A participatory digital education pathway to strengthen cancer survivorship and secondary prevention in underserved populations”.
The presentation highlighted CAREWAY’s participatory and literacy-sensitive approach to improving cancer survivorship and secondary prevention through a co-designed educational toolkit adapted to diverse literacy levels and community contexts. Particular emphasis was placed on the importance of co-creation and the direct involvement of patients, families, healthcare professionals, and communities in developing inclusive, accessible, and needs-based educational resources anchored in real-world experiences.
The conference brought together researchers, clinicians, patient advocates, and policymakers from across Europe to discuss new approaches in survivorship care, supportive care, health literacy, and implementation science. In this context, CAREWAY contributed to ongoing discussions on how participatory approaches and accessible health information can support more equitable cancer care across Europe.
