On 23 January 2025, the RadioVal consortium meeting took place, an online event that brought together the partners from the various institutions to discuss the project’s progress and next steps. RadioVal is a Horizon Europe-funded project that aims to validate an artificial intelligence solution to support breast cancer treatment decisions. SHINE 2Europe, through its representatives Carina Dantas and Miriam Cabrita, was present as leader of the Work Package on social innovation and stakeholder involvement.
The day’s agenda was organised into themed sessions, starting with an introduction led by Oliver Diaz and Jamilia Arykbaeva, from the University of Barcelona, where the project overview and associated legal aspects were presented.
The discussion then focussed on clinical data, artificial intelligence (AI) tools and traceability, as well as clinical evaluation and plans to exploit the project. In each of the sessions, the partners shared important updates, such as progress on data acquisition, automated segmentation models and AI-based explanation tools, as well as discussing regulation and intellectual property management.
SHINE’s participation was highlighted in session 5, dedicated to social innovation and the involvement of multiple stakeholders. They presented the state of play regarding the requirements and the synergies identified with the project’s other work packages, reinforcing the importance of an inclusive approach to the development and implementation of the proposed solutions.
Throughout the day, participants also had the opportunity to outline the next steps to ensure RadioVal’s progress and success.
