SHINE 2Europe is one of seven partner organisations from seven countries that have just launched the S.H.I.E.L.D. project (Securing Health & social care Institutions resilience to cybercrimes through Empowerment Literacy and Digital skills of the workforce and students), a three-year European initiative that aims to reinforce the resilience of health & social care (HSC) institutes against cybercrimes.
The project, co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme and coordinated by the Czech Technical University (CVUT) in Czechia, was officially launched in Prague between 4 and 5 November 2025. SHINE was represented by Rachel Apted (in person) and Angela Freitas and Natália Machado (online).
The main results of the project are an innovative training program, equipping students and health and social care practitioners with the proper digital skills and cybersecurity knowledge, through the development of a gamified E-Learning platform and mobile app, along with guidelines for improving HSC sector resilience to cyber-attacks.
SHINE 2Europe is the leader of Work Package 5, dedicated to communication and dissemination activities, while also scaling the S.H.I.E.L.D. impact, through a strategy for knowledge exploitation at European level, reaching higher education institutions, professional organisations, and policymakers.
At the kick-off meeting, partners outlined the project’s goals and discussed the work plan. Key activities in the next months include desk research on existing tools and knowledge in partner countries, together with an assessment of existing educational gaps concerning cybersecurity risks, learning needs and barriers.
Alongside the discussions, the consortium had the opportunity to enjoy a social program, exploring the projects kick-off city of Prague on foot and having a traditional Czech dinner, where partners get the opportunity to reinforce relationships.
