SHINE 2Europe and AD ELO win FUTURAL Open Call with Project TERRA.game

SHINE 2Europe and AD ELO – Associação de Desenvolvimento Local da Bairrada e Mondego are among those selected for FUTURAL’s Open Call, with the TERRA.game project. The game is part of the list of 10 inspiring sub-projects selected to develop innovative digital solutions that respond to the challenges of European rural communities, promoting community innovation in rural areas.

TERRA.game’s mission is to promote the circular economy and rural resilience, with a focus on empowering older adults through an educational game and a community activity kit. The solution will be tested in the Centre of Portugal, in partnership with AD ELO, SHINE’s partner in other projects in the same area, such as NewEcoSmart.

To launch the project on the 3rd of June, SHINE presented TERRA.game at the Open Call pitch event, highlighting its potential to combat demographic ageing and digital exclusion in rural areas. Natália Machado, SHINE’s representative, emphasised: “This project combines tradition and innovation, involving older people not just as users, but as active co-creators of solutions linked to sustainability in favour of a better quality of life.”

The sub-project will now be developed and subsequently integrated into the FUTURAL platform, with the aim of scaling its impact at European level. SHINE and AD ELO are thus reinforcing their commitment to the digital and sustainable transformation of rural communities.

Funded by the EU, FUTURAL supports intelligent solutions for rural development, aligned with the priorities of the green and digital transition.
