On February 22nd, the MARE – Marine and Environmental Sciences Centre of the University of Coimbra is organizing a riverwalk with citizens to explore the Ribeira de Coselhas and its urban biodiversity.
This activity takes place within the framework of the OneAquaHealth Project, a Horizon Europe initiative that aims to demonstrate how the health of aquatic ecosystems is highly interconnected with human health, urban health contexts, and the mitigation of disease outbreaks.
SHINE 2Europe is a partner in this project, coordinating the Work Package on Citizen Science and Ethical Sustainability. It collaborates with MARE – University of Coimbra in engaging the local community – stakeholders and citizens – in monitoring and protecting aquatic ecosystems in Coimbra, one of the five cities being studied in this project, along with Benevento (Italy), Ghent (Belgium), Oslo (Norway), and Toulouse (France).
