The Pharmacy Faculty of the University of Porto (FFUP) received Natália Machado, Project Director at SHINE 2Europe, for a lecture on the topic of Ethics and Digital Health on May 29th. In this lecture, the RadioVal project was presented, and some discussions around the topic of ethics and trust took place.
The session aimed to explore the concept of ethics and its relevance in ensuring person-centered care, particularly in the context of developing new technologies in the healthcare sector.
The session started with a comprehensive overview of the theoretical framework surrounding ethics, followed by a discussion on various models for guaranteeing person-centered care. RadioVal was presented as a case study highlighting how the user-centred design was applied, especially through the social innovation sessions. Finally, its results were presented for a better understanding of how these methods can be applied in practice.
A roundtable using the mural tool was organised to delve into the ethical challenges associated with the project. With this, the students had the opportunity to discuss two personas and how ethical dilemmas can appear in real-world healthcare projects.
