Carina Dantas, CEO of SHINE 2Europe, presented SHINE’s stakeholder engagement model at the Global Conference on Person-Centred Care 2024, held in Gothenburg, Sweden from 13 to 16 May.
The conference provided an arena for explorations and accounts of person-centred care as related to several interdisciplinary and interprofessional fields, including integrated care, comprehensive care, and personalised health founded on partnerships, transcending healthcare practices and organisations, as well as policy and structural levels. There was very relevant opportunities for networking in a person-centred community that flourished beyond the conference.
Carina Dantas was presenting the model used in Horizon Europe projects such as RadioVal and AI4HF for ethical assessment based on social innovation and multi-stakeholder engagement towards a more Trustworthy AI, in the panel “Person-centered care in the digital era: models, measurements, and ethics” with Sabine Valenta, Souzi Makri, Stefan Nilsson, moderated by Filipa Ventura.
The overall discussions highlighted how eHealth solutions have become a critical area of focus in healthcare innovation, with their relevance depending on the contribution to improving health outcomes, while being respectful of the person’s values and preferences, trustworthy for both clinicians and the person, and sustainable to the healthcare system. Departing from the ethics of person-centred care, the presentations covered use-cases of digitalisation in healthcare, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), as well as their relation with the European Standard for Patient Involvement in Health Care (CEN/TC450).
There was a fully packed room in consensus about the need for patient-centred care and multi-stakeholder engagement in digital health, which is definitely a great achievement for a more inclusive society.
