SHINE 2Europe announces the completion of the European YoungCare project, an initiative aimed at giving a voice to informal carers and adults between 18 and 65 years old who need care, promoting their quality of life through educational tools co-created with the beneficiaries themselves. With the project ending in July 2025, all final results are now available in Portuguese, including an innovative, free, and fully online e-learning platform.
Funded by the European Union’s Erasmus+ programme, the project was developed by a European consortium of five organisations – from Portugal, Lithuania, Germany, Italy, and the Netherlands – with SHINE 2Europe leading the development of the platform and taking responsibility for its dissemination and promotion.
The YoungCare platform, available at https://edu.youngcare.eu/pt/mapa, is a free digital tool designed for informal carers and young people in need of care. It provides structured content across five main areas: housing, leisure/mobility, participation and employment, care and support, and legal framework. In addition to international information, users can access country-specific content, including information tailored to the Portuguese context.
With a strong focus on accessibility and practical relevance, the platform was designed using a participatory, user-centred approach, reflecting the challenges and priorities identified throughout the project.
Through this initiative, SHINE 2Europe reinforces its commitment to building more inclusive communities, supporting both those who provide care and those who need it in a practical, accessible, and informed way. Giving visibility to informal carers and young adults who require care is a key step towards ensuring fairer policies, more effective services, and a society that is more attentive to the diversity of life paths.
