Carina Dantas will participate as speaker in the webinar “COVID-19: European Coordinated Response to the pandemic” – Covid-19: European Coordinated Response to the pandemic, promoted by the EU Health Policy Platform of the European Commission. The session took place virtually on April 3, 2020.
Carina Dantas, Coordinator of the Thematic Network SHAFE will integrate a virtual round table to share the concerns of organizations and stakeholders that work with the older population, regarding the new coronavirus. This Round Table will address the best practices to combat the spread of the pandemic and the preventive measures adopted by third sector organizations.
Carina Dantas, also representing SHAFE, will join the representatives of the Standing Committee of European Doctors (CPME), the European Federation of Nurses (EFN) and the European Public Health Alliance (EPHA).
The SHAFE (Smart Healthy Age-Friendly Environments) stakeholder network is coordinated by Cáritas de Coimbra and AFEdemy. This Network, approved in 2018 by the European Commission under the theme Healthy, Smart and Friendly Environments, involves as partners 10 major European networks and over 160 organizations from all over Europe. The objective is to align technological development and infrastructure, in terms of policies and financing, articulated with an integrated, more efficient health and social support system, with better quality at a lower cost, in accordance with the Digital Single Market strategy.
The virtual session has a program full of prominent speakers, and the opening session was in charge of John F. Ryan, of DG SANTE, of the European Commission, followed by a summary of the epidemiological situation and risk assessment of the Pandemic. Ingrid Keller, also from DG SANTE, will communicate how the European Commission is supporting Member States, involving topics such as transport and border issues, shortages of drugs and protective equipment or clinical trials.
