On May 6, Carina Dantas, co-researcher on the EUonQoL project and CEO of SHINE 2Europe, will moderate a panel of experts at the workshop “Co-Research in Action: Sharing Insights, Inspiring Involvement”. This virtual meeting will bring together various experts to reflect on the essential role those co-researchers – such as patients, survivors and caregivers – play in building research tools and methodologies that are more aligned with the reality of people affected by cancer.
Moderated by Carina Dantas, the panel will include Dirk Hadrich, from the European Commission’s Cancer Mission; Dr. Anita Gottlob, from the Austrian National Institute of Public Health (ECHoS project); Sandra Caldeira, from the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre; and other co-researchers from the EUonQoL project, Caitriona Higgins and Tapani Kalmi.
Before the panel, there will be a plenary session and thematic rooms hosted by the research team of the Dutch organization Nivel, led by Merel Engelaar, Femke van Schelven and Nanne Bos, with the support of co-researchers Inke Minnée-van Braak and Laura Pinnavaia.
Carina Dantas’ participation reinforces the commitment to the active inclusion of citizens in the research and development of solutions that promote quality of life. “It’s essential that we stop just talking about participation and start building real partnerships. The knowledge of those who experience the disease is indispensable for creating effective and relevant tools for everyone,” she stated.
Through the direct involvement of people with experience, the EUonQoL project is developing a set of tools that reflect real needs and can improve the quality of life of people living with cancer.
Registration for the event is now open and more information can be found on the official website: https://www.nivel.nl/en/co-research-action-sharing-insights-inspiring-involvement
