SHINE 2Europe’s CEO, Carina Dantas, took part in the 4th Algarve Breast Cancer Congress, addressing one of today’s most relevant issues: how to ensure that artificial intelligence is ethical and safe. With the theme ‘Ethics and Artificial Intelligence: protecting the human in the digital age’, she reflected on the intersection between technology and fundamental rights in the area of health.
In her speech, Carina Dantas highlighted SHINE 2Europe’s work in the areas of ethics in artificial intelligence, social innovation and multi-stakeholder involvement in the development of AI tools for cancer, with special emphasis on the RadioVal project. This international project focuses on the clinical validation of solutions based on radiomics and artificial intelligence to support breast cancer treatment planning.
The event, which brought together specialists, researchers and health professionals, was an opportunity to discuss the challenges and potential of artificial intelligence in oncology, ensuring that its development is always aligned with ethical principles and centred on the human being. Carina Dantas expressed her appreciation for the ‘opportunity to contribute to this inspiring and enriching debate’, as she pointed out.
