On March 18th and 19th, SHINE joined the AGE-MEDU consortium in Šibenik, Croatia, for the project’s first in-person transnational meeting. Luís Dias, SHINE COO, and Andrea Marinho, Project Manager in SHINE participated on the meeting onsite, and Juliana Louceiro, Project Manager participated online. This meeting alowed for the consortium members to foster stronger collaboration and advance discussions on improving gerontology and geriatric health education.
As the dissemination manager for the AGE-MEDU project, SHINE presented the project’s newly created website and social media platforms, alongside a leaflet and flyer designed to raise awareness. Additionally, SHINE led discussions on strategies for upcoming dissemination phases to ensure effective communication and outreach as the project progresses.
SHINE is particularly enthusiastic about the project’s innovative approach. The consortium’s next steps involve creating this specialized curriculum, followed by the development of educational materials designed to enhance nursing education. Notably, these materials will be adapted for Virtual Reality (VR) integration. SHINE believes VR technology will provide an engaging and immersive way for students to experience realistic caregiving scenarios, improving their practical skills and understanding of complex geriatric health issues.
The face-to-face meeting in Šibenik was invaluable for SHINE. The opportunity to engage directly with partners enabled deeper discussions, improved strategic planning, and strengthened collaboration. SHINE is confident that this shared commitment to advancing gerontology and geriatric education will result in meaningful outcomes for healthcare education across Europe.
