On September 12 and 13, the AFECO consortium convened in Wroclaw, Poland, with the Wrocław University of Environmental and Life Sciences hosting the event.
The meeting provided an opportunity to review the progress of the project and plan for upcoming developments, particularly the creation of a new learning programme and a digital learning centre.
The main objective of the AFECO project is to co-create an open e-learning platform, designed as a learning centre, to raise awareness and offer training to older adults, as well as formal and informal caregivers and social workers. The focus is on providing accessible and affordable strategies to develop age- and eco-friendly environments for older adults, both at home and in their communities, while empowering them to take an active role in implementing these solutions.
Significant progress has been made on developing the learning programme, with its content discussed in co-creation meetings held by each partner organization in their respective countries. These sessions, involving groups of older adults, aimed to present sample learning modules and gather feedback. The participants offered valuable insights, commenting on the content, presentation style, visuals, and overall learning experience. This feedback will inform the finalisation of the learning programme and guide the development of the learning platform.
The digital learning centre is currently under development, with SHINE leading its creation. Drawing on their extensive expertise in the field, SHINE will design a platform that prioritises accessibility and user-friendliness.
Further co-creation sessions will be organised to test both the content of the learning programme and the digital learning centre.
During the meeting, SHINE also provided updates on the “sharing and promotion plan”, for which it is responsible, outlining upcoming changes aimed at enhancing the project’s visibility and impact.
